While the sports world was on hold due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the WWE kept going. They provided an outlet for sports entertainment when the NBA, the NHL, the UFC, and college sports let us down. Yes, the outcome is predetermined, but it's still sports. This weekend is the latest Pay-Per-View, the Horror Show at Extreme Rules. The build-up to this weekend has been phenomenal, and I'm personally more excited about this event than I was about the two night Wrestlemania a few months back. Here's a little preview to the weekend's action:

Braun Strowman vs. Bray Wyatt - Wyatt Swamp Match
Bray and Braun were part of a religious cult tag team as they came up in the WWE Universe. Eventually, they split up, but on Sunday, they're going back home. This match will be in the Wyatt Family swamp in Snakebight, Florida.

Rey Mysterio vs. Seth Rollins - Eye For An Eye Match
Seth Rollins calls himself "The Monday Night Messiah" because he is trying to lead Monday Night RAW into a new generation. A couple of months ago, he started picking on some of the more seasoned wrestlers, for what he said was for the "greater good." It was this "greater good" that led him to try to blind Rey Mysterio, a long time fan favorite. In this weekend's match, the winner will be crowned once Mysterio or Rollins removes an eye from the other's head. Gross, right?

Jeff Hardy vs. Shaemus - Bar Fight
Jeff Hardy has had a public struggle with drugs and alcohol for decades. Over the last couple of months, Shemus has been dragging Hardy's past into the conversation and even challenged him to a "Bar Fight," where he said that Hardy would have the advantage.

The rest of the matches have a ton of interest for me and other fans of the WWE, but may not be significant for the casual or first time viewer. Those matches are Asuka vs. Shasha Banks for the RAW Women's Championship, Bayley vs. Nikki Cross for the SmackDown Women's Championship, Apollo Crews vs. MVP for the United States Championship, The New Day vs. Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship, and Drew McIntyre vs. Dolph Ziggler for the WWE Championship.

Sunday's Horror Show at Extreme Rules is streaming on the WWE Network. Whoo!
