New Bill Slaps Murder Charges On Boise Heroin Sellers
A new bill is on the docket for us here in Boise. Sell heroin, someone dies, and you get charged with murder.
Rep. John Gannon of Boise is behind this legislation to combat heroin addiction. This bill would send a message loud and proud! Anyone that sells heroin to a user that dies gets slapped with a second degree murder charge.
Painkiller and heroin abuse here in the Treasure Valley have reached epidemic levels. Authorities are at a loss as to how to tackle this situation so it looks like they're going to extremes. Punish... Punish... Punish... those responsible.
Idaho state law punishes second degree murder with a minimum of ten years in prison and a maximum of life.
The House Judiciary, Rules and Administration Committee has agreed to have this proposal sent to a legislative hearing which has not been scheduled as of yet. We'll keep you posted.
