He served his country in war and in space.  We lost one of the good guys today.

 

Another American hero died today at the age of 95.  John Glenn was the last survivor of the Mercury 7 selected in 1959 as NASA's first group of astronauts.  He became the first American to orbit the earth when he took a solo flight in 1962.

 

He was a decorated veteran of two wars and a military test pilot.  Glenn later became Senator of Ohio.  He represented the state of Ohio for 24 years.

 

His one regret was never making it to the moon.  That honor went to another man from Ohio, Neil Armstrong.  Rest In Peace Senator Glenn.  You will be remembered!
