Boy Scouts to Allow Girls in Program
The historic move was announced this morning.
According to KTVB, the Boy Scouts have announced plans to admit girls into the Cub Scouts as well as establish a "new program for older girls using the same curriculum as the Boy Scouts."
The smallest unit-the Cub Scout dens- will remain one gender, either all male or all female.
However, next year, the larger Cub Scout 'Packs' will be open to both genders.
This means that starting in 2019, girls will be able to achieve the highly coveted rank of 'Eagle Scout'.
How do the Girl Scouts feel about it? According to KTVB the "Girl Scouts organization has criticized the initiative, saying it strains the century-old bond between the two groups."
