It was the year 1986 when a decision was made at Boise State that would change the university forever. The athletic program decided to put down a new turf...and it would be blue.

The rest is history.

Love it or hate it, even casual football fans know about the blue field in Boise and this past April Fools' Day, universities all across America pranked their fan bases by posting their stadiums with new colored fields.

Boise State, quickly jumped into action..

First, there was Mountain West and Pac-12 foe, Utah State...

Then, there was the Kentucky Wildcats...

And then, there was FIU with a urine-gold looking field...what is an FIU?

We appreciated the sense of humor that Boise State brought to social media while all of these 'April Fools' Day' pranks were running wild across different fan bases.

A long day is right, Bronco Fans. They weren't bullying the other schools, just having some fun...

Because of the school's U.S. Trademark registration, any high school or college / university that wants a non-traditional colored football field must first seek permission from Boise State who ultimately gets to say YES or NO!

Take a look at some of the fields that Boise State HAS allowed to be something other than green, below!
