Just before noon on Wednesday, July 2nd, a stone cold and emotionless Bryan Kohberger stood before Judge Steven Hippler in the Ada County Courthouse, took an oath, and proceeded to admit to killing the four University of Idaho students in November of 2022.

In order to keep decorum in the courtroom, Judge Hippler issued clear rules and guidelines for the hearing--one of those rules? Only one photographer allowed.

The following photos offer an up close look at today's hearing.

Take a look at the exclusive photos that were taken inside of the Ada County Courthouse:

Many commented that Kohberger was 'stone cold' during the hearing.

As it began, Judge Steven Hippler made it clear--he was frustrated by the numerous messages and voicemails sent to he and his staff concerning the plea deal because he called it 'inappropriate' and that he would never take such public comment into account.

Judge Hippler also shared that he, like everyone, learned that the plea deal existed on Monday afternoon, June 30th. He shared that he had fully expected and was preparing for trial.

A written plea agreement presented that Kohberger would plead guilty on all counts

  • Four courts of First Degree Murder (a fixed life sentence for each)
  • One Count of Felony Burglary (10 years, fixed)

By accepting the plea deal, Kohberger waives his right to appeal.

Kohberger, addressed by Judge Hippler, stood and took an oath before making a plea.

When asked if he is of clear mind, Kohberger responded 'yes'.

When asked if he understands that by pleading guilty, he did indeed commit these crimes. Kohberger, responded 'yes'.

Judge Steven Hippler then moved to ask if Kohberger entered the home on King Road to commit murder--deliberately, willfully, with malice and forethought. Four times. Kohberger answered 'yes'.

Kohberger then said 'Guilty' to all five charges--one at a time--with a stone cold and straight face.

The plea is final and the court has accepted the plea--as of Wednesday, July 12th of 2025, Bryan Kohberger has plead guilty to all counts and will be sentenced on July 23rd at 9:00 a.m.
