Common Item Banned From Checked Bags When Flying in ID, WA, and UT
The calendar is about to turn to May and that means soon school will be out, summer is nearly here, and many will be taking summer trips over the next few months. While some prefer to take road trips and see the country, others want to get to their destination as quickly as possible. Flying is the fastest way to travel and depending on where you go is the best way to choose. There are many rules when it comes to flying, such as what to pack, what not to pack, and the weight of your luggage. For those unaware, a new rule has gone into effect that bans a certain item from being in checked bags in Idaho, Washington, and Utah when flying to or from the state.
Banned Item in Checked Bags When Flying in Idaho, Washington, and Utah
When it comes to packing for a trip there are many things you don't want to forget. Many want to bring a certain pillow, their computer, medicine, and toiletries. Making sure to have everything you need can be stressful, and doing so while keeping your bag under the weight limit can be tough as well. Many like to make sure they have their iPads, phones, computers, and technology, but also all of these electronics need their chargers as well, especially if gone for an extended period. Most fliers will have their things charged before they leave and won't need a charger until the following day, but it is vital to not put your charger in your checked bag, as the TSA has banned portable chargers and power banks that use lithium batteries from being in a checked bag moving forward.
Portable Chargers Banned When Flying in Idaho, Washington and Utah
Before you get too upset, portable chargers are not banned from being taken on flights but are banned from checked bags. You are still able to keep all of your chargers in a carry-on bag. This new rule went into effect earlier this year after a power bank caused a fire on an international flight in January in South Korea. For more on the new rule and why it has been put in place, as well as responses to the rule, make sure to click the link in the paragraph above.

If you are someone that is bothered by the rule and would prefer to not have your portable charger in your carry-on bag, you could choose to drive for your next vacation. Most will have no problem with having their charger with them, but some, as seen in the link above, are upset over the rule change. Make sure to pack accordingly the next time you fly, and there shouldn't be any issues.
