The famous and popular greenbelt in Boise is undergoing an update. While it is disturbing the pathway in large sections at time, it will be worth it in the end. Learn more with the photos below including the current areas under construction and the ones that are about to be under construction soon.
Boise is the only place in the United States and even in the western hemisphere with a block that is devoted to preserving and celebrating Basque heritage.
It is a light green weed that produces small yellow flowers in the early spring. It is actually kind of pretty and probably something I would think was a native plant or flower. Glad I know better now because this weed is dangerous! The leaves greenish-grey and are thick, fleshy and waxy to the touch.
The views from the race will be incredible. The race page describes it as a "fast and stunningly beautiful course (that) showcases the beauties of Boise, from the panoramic mountain vistas along Bogus Basin Rd. to the lush waters of the Boise River."
The entire belt stretches for 25 miles. I have yet to get all of those miles visited but hope to get all sections covered this summer. Here are some of the best stops along the way that I have found so far. These are all within a 5 mile radius of the greenbelt right in downtown.
Eagle Bike Park has a ton more to offer that we didn't even check out. Not only this fun track for kids and BMXers but winding hillside mountain biking trails spreading out right above it. We could see dozens of bikers weaving in and out, up and down exploring and having fun.
