A 26-year-old man has been arrested for starting a wildfire in Utah and according to WMTW, he told authorities that he had been attempting to kill a spider with a lighter when he started the fire. he Utah County Sheriff's Office says.

When 90% of wildfires are caused by us, it really is on you to learn to prevent them because now we're seeing that many of them are, in fact, preventable. Whether you're just a happy camper, a trail enthusiast, or a public land professional you play a vital role in preventing these preventable wildfires and protecting our beloved natural resources.

It's time Idahoans stepped up and took some responsibility.

Coming in at #24 in their 'State of the Air" research is Boise City, Mountain Home, and the Ontario areas for the "Short-Term Particle Pollution" category. Our big issue here in the northwest and certainly in the Boise area is when we end up with wildfire smoke. Something that we have had a ton of in the last few of years.

It is hard to imagine a worse fire year than last year, while Idaho had definite burn damage it didn't come close to the overwhelming wildfire destruction that Oregon and California faced last year. This year Idaho's fire season may start sooner and be worse than recent years.
