Getting on a flight this Thanksgiving weekend? Check out these tips for smooth travel.

The TSA recommends:

  • Arriving early - at least two hours before your plane departs.
  • Know what you can and CAN'T pack - if you're not sure CLICK HERE.
  • Remove EVERYTHING from your pockets. You don't want to be THAT person who has to go through the metal detector twice, backing up the line!
  • Limit jewelry and embellishments - avoid wearing a ton of jewelry that can take a while to take off. Also make sure you don't wear clothes that have metal buckles, metal clips, etc.
  • Gifts - you can bring gifts that are wrapped, but if it needs additional screening, they can take that pretty wrapping paper (that you spent two hours on) and throw it away. So they recommend bringing gifts in gift bags.
  • Bring less - limit carry-on items; the less bags you have the less time it takes to check 'em.
  • Medical conditions / disabilities - they recommend contacting the TSA in advance of your travel to see what the screening procedures are. 1-855-787-2227
