The Build-A-Bear Pay Your Age promotion where, for one day only, you buy your own bear for $1 per year up to $29 sounds like a great idea, right?  Well, it hasn't come without a few bumps in the road.  All Build-A-Bear's across the United States and Canda have shut their lines down due to a complete overload of people.  This includes Boise Towne Square Mall which has a line out the door and completely surrounding the mall itself.

Build-A-Bear released this statement...

Per local authorities, we cannot accept additional Guests at our locations due to crowds and safety concerns. We have closed lines in our U.S. and Canada stores. We understand some Guests are disappointed and we will reach out directly as soon as possible.

The long lines are reminiscent of Black Friday lines we'll see around Thanksgiving time.  Build-A-Bear knew this was a promotion that would generate a lot of talk and get a lot of people into their stores but underestimated exactly how many that would actually be.  They state that safety is their main concern and the over-crowded lines have gotten to a point to where that is in jeopardy which is why the lines have been shut down.
