Do Eric Church and George Strait have a lot in common? Eric Church may think so.

When George Strait had his first Top 10 single, ‘Unwound,’ in 1981 Eric Church was only four years old. But in spite of the age gap, Eric thinks he has a lot in common with King George.

“There’s certain people you just kind of hit it off with,” he tells NOLA.com. “You think George Strait, with 61 No. 1 hits — it wasn’t always like that. When George came to town, cowboy hats and cowboys were not in vogue.”

“There’s a commonality in our career paths,” Church notes. “We were doing it our own way at a time when everybody was doing it a different way. I don’t have any more respect for anybody else than I do for George Strait. I respect him more than anyone. It’s been great to get know him and become friends with him and have somebody you can talk to about certain things.”

Eric talks about how he used to go to college campuses and would never see a student wearing a country artist t-shirt or hat, but now he says it seems like it's more the norm.

You'll be able to see if that's true in just a few weeks. Eric Church and his "Outsiders Tour 2015" will hit Taco Bell Arena on January 30th. Make sure you listen to Wow 104.3 to win your way in!
