It's a sad day for Boise State football as Head Coach Chris Peterson accepts a job at the University of Washington.

As with many Boise State fans, I took the news of Coach Pete leaving to coach the Huskies pretty hard. Growing up in Boise, I have always been a huge Boise State fan, and the last 8 years under Coach Pete have been nothing short of magical. But alas, all good things must come to an end. It's official, Coach Pete has moved on to greener pastures. I think it's time that we realize that Boise State is a stepping stone. It's happened with Dirk Koetter, Dan Hawkins, and now...Chris Petersen.

I have nothing but respect for Coach Pete. Because of him we got to see the Broncos play on a whole new level. His coaching record is unparalleled. We have been very fortunate to watch our Broncos rise to excellence and compete with the so called 'big boys' of college football. Regardless of who our head coach is, I have always, and will always bleed blue.

I wish Coach Pete nothing but the best as he moves onto UW. What's done is done, and there's nothing we can do to change it.

Bob Gregory has been named interim head coach of the Boise State University football team, Director of Athletics Mark Coyle announced today.

Gregory is completing his fifth season as an assistant on the Bronco staff, and his second as assistant head coach.  He has coached linebackers since returning to Boise State prior to the 2010 season, and served as the defensive coordinator for the Broncos in 2001

“I’m honored to represent Boise State University and Bronco Football in our bowl game,” Gregory said. “We have a great process in place, and we will continue to follow that process.  We look forward to our bowl preparations knowing that our players will be excited and will play with great energy.”

“I’m appreciative that Bob has agreed to accept this opportunity and know that he will have our players focused and ready to compete in our bowl game,” Coyle said.
