Beware of Scam in Idaho That Could Lead to Death
Scams are happening at all times in the country these days. A day rarely goes by when someone is not attempting to scam you. They come in all shapes and sizes and each one has a different method, but they all are looking to scam you in some form or fashion. Sadly, society has made it so that you can't trust anyone anymore because many of us assume that everyone is attempting to scam us at all times. There is one scam happening though that you must be aware of, or it could lead to not only financial damage, but physical damage as well, or death.
Planned Accident Scam in Idaho
Trying to pull off insurance fraud is nothing new, and neither is forcing a person to have an accident with you, but it is a scam that has gotten plenty of attention lately after a video went viral. In the video above, a woman from New York was cut off and slammed on her brakes. The car in front of her then proceeds to back into her car. In the past, this would look like she rear-ended the car to officers arriving and to most spectators, but thanks to her dashboard camera, the truth was revealed. It may seem like a simple insurance fraud scam, but if someone is not wearing their seat belt. the car backs up at a higher speed, or the driver doesn't hit their brakes fast enough, it could lead to physical damage or death in the worst-case scenario. Luckily, this woman hit her brakes caught it all on camera, and walked away without a scratch.
Insurance Fraud in Idaho
While all scams are scary, this one takes it to another level adding the risk of physical damage and life. It still counts as insurance fraud though, and if caught committing fraud in Idaho, you could serve up to 15 years in prison, a $15,000 fine, or both. This crime is not new, but with technology and cameras everywhere, it is getting caught more and more. Without the dash camera in the video above, this woman likely would have been accused of causing this wreck, but instead, she helped others be aware of what these people were doing. Watch the video above this paragraph to see the entire situation play out, and notice that the male who gets out of the car spots the dash camera, and knows he is in trouble by his expression. This is a good reminder of why everyone should invest in one, and it could help you down the line like this lady.
Make sure to be alert at all times on the road, especially if someone attempts to cut you off, and be prepared to slam your brakes. Once you have stopped, if you don't have a dash camera, try to get your phone quick, especially if they are fully stopped. They might be headed towards your vehicle soon to attempt to commit insurance fraud. If you find yourself in this predicament, make sure to call the police, get to a safe place, and record as much as you can.
