Some of American Idol's most beloved alumni are heading back to the show for a reunion special celebrating Idol's 20th anniversary.

Lauren Alaina, Scotty McCreery and Laine Hardy are just a few of the familiar faces who'll be back on the big stage for an event dubbed The Great Idol Reunion.

According to Deadline, an all-genre cast of former Idol hopefuls turned bona fide stars will be back on set for the May 2 episode, pairing up for performances together according to a rough chronology of when they were on the show.

McCreery and Alaina will sing together; they were competitors on the finale of Season 10, and McCreery ultimately took up the top prize, with Alaina being named runner-up. Hardy will duet with Lacey Kaye Booth, his fellow country-leaning contestant from Season 17. Hardy won that season, while Booth landed in the Top 5.

Other standouts returning to the show include Season 2 winner Ruben Studdard, Season 6 winner Jordin Sparks, Season 7 winner David Cook, Season 8 winner Kris Allen, Season 16 winner Maddie Poppe, Season 16 runner-up Caleb Lee Hutchinson — another country contestant, Season 19 runner-up Willie Spence and Season 19 third place finalist Grace Kinstler.

Season 20 of American Idol is moving ahead at full speed. After completing Hollywood Week, this year's batch of contestants are now facing the Showstoppers round, where they're vying for their chance to make the Top 24 and pairing up for a series of sing-offs.

This year's season of American Idol once again features judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie. New episodes air on Sunday and Monday night on ABC.
