And they weren't the only city in our area to make the list.

It's hard to think that anything really grew in the last year, right? I know for me, I essentially closed up shop when it came to spending money. My budget got super tight. So let's just say that the word "growth" hasn't really been on my mind, unless we're talking about my binge-watching waistline.

However, there has been growth. It may be small, but it's still there and I believe it started years ago. The momentum that we have built in our area over the last several years may have helped carry us through this pandemic.

Let me explain.

WalletHub recently did some research on cities across the country, 515 to be exact. They looked at various growth factors like population, unemployment rates, regional gross domestic product, and more. Analysts examined these numbers from the last seven years and things are looking pretty good for us.

In fact, three Idaho cities were put on their list of 2020's Fastest Growing Cities in America.

The top finisher was Meridian in the top five at number three overall. To get a little more specific, Meridian finished at number two in the "Midsize Cities" category. They also tied for first in "Highest Population Growth" and "Highest Job Growth." You'll then find Nampa at number 10 overall on their list and tied for first in "Highest Poverty Rate Decrease." Boise also did well coming in at number 156 overall.

With that being said, I think it's safe to say that our area is on an upward trajectory this pandemic can't knock us off of that path.
