The Day We Lost Keith

Country Music lost a great one 28 years ago today. RIP Keith Whitley.

May 9, 1989 - the news broke that Keith Whitley, 34, had died. During his short career, Keith charted 19 songs on the Billboard Country Charts.

Had he not died, and was still with us today, he very well may be right there with the likes of George Strait, Randy Travis, and others. Even today, many of the new country artists will tell you they were and still are influenced by Keith' music.

The day after he died, the streets of Nashville and especially "Music Row" were lined with black ribbons. His voice was pure country...and his songs told stories.

Country music misses him....so do I.
