Another Hero From The Twin Falls In-N-Out Shooting Recovering From Gunshot

First, we heard of an armed citizen by the name of Jordan Salinas, who drew his pistol to exchange fire with the shooter at the In-N-Out in Twin Falls, Idaho, Aug. 1st., to distract him from shooting others.

Then, it was confirmed that an unidentified off-duty Idaho State Police Trooper had done the same.

Austin James Scott, former Twin Falls Police officer and former Idaho State Trooper,  was in the drive-thru at In-N-Out in Twin Falls, Idaho when the shooting began. He also engaged the shooter. His intervention was different, however. Though Austin was armed, he chose to not draw his weapon so he wouldn't be mistaken for the actual shooter.

Austin ran towards the gunfire with the clear intent of saving others and attempting to diffuse the situation. He told his wife, Connie, and their friend to stay in the vehicle while he ran towards the gunshots.

He rounded the corner of the restaurant and came face to face with the gunman. The suspect raised his semi-automatic rifle and shot Austin. Though critically wounded, his actions saved lives.

Austin's wife, Connie, and their friend are both ER nurse's and they immediately located him, controlled his bleeding and took him by car to the nearest hospital for emergency surgery.

Austin, now an electrician, survived this horrific shooting and now faces a long recovery from his wounds. His family is asking for prayers and assistance through his Give Send Go to cover his medical bills, recovery and rehab, and expenses while he is out of work.

A grateful community has responded with an outpouring of donations and prayers for this hero.
