With No MLB Team in Idaho, Who Do We Cheer For?
Let's just say, we're probably not invested in this year's World Series.
Baseball has always been a part of my life. I'm pretty sure I took my first steps at my brother's games. As soon as I was able, my parents signed me up for tee-ball which sparked a love for softball, a sport I played until no one would have me anymore.
And how can you not love the atmosphere at a game?
It's a laid back sports as far as spectating goes. You can grab a beer, chow down on a hot dog, and catch a tan all in one afternoon. It's America's pastime and we have it on every level in Idaho, except professionally.
What's up with that?
Why do we have cities like Chicago and New York with multiple teams, but we don't have one? Each state should be have one team at the very least. That would make everyone invested.
So, without a team of our own, who do we pledge our allegiance to in Major League Baseball?
The Seattle Mariners.
This is according to a recent survey and it does kind of make sense. After all, they are in the Pacific Northwest and we share a border with Washington.
And I think it's safe to say that we would rather cheer them on than any of those California teams. Right?
Now, when it comes to fan bases, Seattle is decent. Bleacher Report ranks Mariners fans at No. 18 on their list of the best fan bases in baseball. With 30 teams in the league, that puts us in the middle of the pack.
Who do you cheer for? Are you cheering for either team in the World Series? Braves? Astros?
