9 U.S. Citizens Including 6 Children Murdered in Mexico
In a horrific act of violence, 6 children including infant twins, and 3 adults have been killed in Mexico. The family is said to have ties to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
An ambush on a highway in the Mexican border state of Sonora has left all of these innocent people dead.
- 8-month-old twins Titas and Tiana Miller
- 2 1/2-year-old Rogan Langford
- 10-year-old Krystal Miller
- 11-year-old Trevor Langford
- 12-year-old Howard Miller
- 29-year-old Christina Marie Langford Johnson
- 30-year-old Rhonita Miller
- 43-year-old Dawna Langford
A relative of the family who lives in Utah said that the attack was on a motorcade consisting of several families. Three cars were shot at and one was set on fire.
The family of three women and 14 children were traveling from Galeana, Chihuahua, to Bavispe, and to Sonora on Monday. Many were going to Chihuahua to visit relatives, while victim Rhonita Miller was on her way to meet up with her family to go on a shopping trip in Arizona.
According to a report on NBC News, 13-year-old Devin Langford went for help after witnessing the horrific violence. He walked for 14 miles to La Mora where the Langford family lived. LaMora sits approximately 75 miles south of the U.S. border and was originally settled by Mormons. Devin was also a hero to his siblings by hiding those who were wounded but still alive in bushes and covering them with branches.
9-year-old McKenzie Langford also went for help when her brother Devin didn't come back. Her arm had been grazed by a bullet, but she walked for hours in the dark and was eventually found by search parties.
There have been conflicting reports that the family was practicing members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, while other reports say they were of the FLDS or Polygamist sect.
The attack appears to be an organized crime ambush.
According to an article on KTVB, two of the three vehicles believed to be carrying two women and 13 children are still missing.
