Boise Man Caught Enticing Child Through Social Media App
This is one of my worst fears about my kids having cell phones. A 30-year-old Boise man is behind bars this morning after enticing a juvenile over a social media app.
Fabricio Martin Martinez has been charged with felony enticement of a child through the internet along with felony charges of possessing a controlled substance, and misdemeanor charges of drug paraphernalia, and misdemeanor resisting or obstructing officers.
This incident went down on February 10th according to idahonews.com and officers say he had tried several times to meet the juvenile before making contact.
The social media app, which has not been identified, actually helped the cops in locating Martinez. They set up a meeting point off of West Overland Rd where he was caught.
Being a Mom of tweens this is just another warning sign to me that you can never be too careful when it comes to social media, apps, and your kids. Bad guys are out there no matter how safe you may think your neighborhood or city is. Kids are vulnerable and most will do just about anything for a little attention, good or bad.
Please check your kid's phones and apps often. Set up alerts and don't be so naive as to think it can't happen to you.
Luckily Martinez is off the street and behind bars where he belongs.
