A Boise Police Officer decided to shoot a dog after being bitten by the dog during a fight. 

It happened Friday night about 8:44 when police were called to the scene of a fight in the front yard of a house at 2200 S. Pond Street in Boise.

According to KTVB, the officer tried to break up the fight between two men; the dog attacked the officer and bit him on the knee, causing a serious injury.

The officer responded by shooting the dog 3 times. The dog also bit one of the men involved in the fight and both the dog and the officer were transported from the scene to get medical care. The dogs current condition is unknown.

The situation is under investigation, but police say the dog posed imminent danger to the officer.
