Fortunately, I've never experienced getting a DUI but I've been told the penalty is pretty stiff.  So what does one get after not one, not two, not three, but six DUI's?  The answer is 30 years behind bars and I know this because 38-year-old Roy D. Rico is the example of what happens when you just can't stop.

KTVB reports that Rico's last arrest was in November.  Caldwell Police hauled him in after he ran a red light almost striking another vehicle.  His blood/alcohol level was more than three times the legal limit.  Rico was on probation at the time of his arrest for a prior felony DUI conviction in 2015. He also had felony DUI convictions in 2011 and 2004, as well as misdemeanor DUI convictions in 2002 and 2001.

30 years may seem like a lot but the Canyon County Prosecutor was asking the judge to give Rico life because he was such a threat to society.

Deputy Prosecutor Ingrid Batey said...

Impaired driving a significant risk to public safety that can often have a ripple effect across the community.  Mr. Rico is extremely lucky he hasn’t hurt or killed someone over the years. There is no doubt that he belongs in prison for an extensive period of time.”
