Up to 100,000 visitors are expected to drive to and through Payette County on their way to Weiser to watch the Total Solar Eclipse on August 21st and Payette County's not taking any chances.

I had no idea you could declare a disaster before it hits but apparently you can.  Payette County is planning on damage, fires, traffic, accidents, and more.  In fact, they're not just planning on it, it's a for sure thing as far as they're concerned.

Declaring a Disaster Declaration allows Payette County to have the man power and the means to be pro-active and ready to go when problems occur.  This should minimize the amount of damage and also allow personnel to be on the scene quickly in case of emergencies.

The Disaster Declaration is in effect now and will continue through September 5 to make sure any clean-up work can be addressed.
