I got my first mosquito bite of the season, and it's not even May. Got me right on the knuckle of my left index finger! Grrrrr!

Are you the sort of person who seems to constantly attract mosquitoes during the summer? I am. I also seem to be a favorite target of the "no-see-um" gnats. Those dirty little buggers love me and leave a nasty little bite that swells up and hurts for about 3 days.

In the meantime, my wife can sit next to me and doesn't seem to get bothered by mosquitoes or no-see-ums. What the heck?!

A new study shows that the reason could be genetic. The findings, published yesterday in the journal PLOS ONE, determined that certain genes which control our body odor just make some humans tastier to mosquitoes than others. The scientists proved their theory by exposing identical twins to mosquitoes; the twins were likely to attract mosquitoes at equal rates compared to sets of non-identical twins.

I guess I need to start eating more garlic (not sure how that's possible) and rub citronella leaves all over me.
