Perhaps it is a strong statement to say that all of the Treasure Valley hates vegans. In fact, there are several restaurants that are either completely vegan or have vegan options that aren't limited to dry salad and plain bread. The first page on Mai Thai's menu is the vegan one. High Note Cafe is completely vegan. Bombay Grill has a wide variety of vegan dishes from which to choose. The Stil offers an assortment of vegan flavors. Bite is another ice cream shop with vegan items. Both Blaze and MOD Pizza equip you with vegan menu selections.

In 2020 PETA actually listed Boise as the 5th most vegan friendly small city in the United States. As a vegan myself I am never worried about finding restaurants to cater to my dietary/ethical needs. What I am worried about is letting it be known I need these options in the first place. There is always some visceral reaction from those around me as though I'm committing treason, so I try to keep it to myself until I absolutely have to mention it.

My guess is that the Treasure Valley is so big on hunting and fishing, and since vegans clearly do not condone these practices, it seems like they wouldn't get along. My suggestion is that everyone worry about themselves and not freak out about what people choose to put in their bodies. Please, no more dirty looks and ignorant questions. We just want to eat and live without judgement the way non-vegans do.

Now the next question is do vegans still hate the Treasure Valley? Can't speak for all of them, but I can say that I never hated it.
