Coming to terms with the 'loss' of my dog and finding a furry friend again.

I recently went through a breakup and, unfortunately, I won't be seeing my pup, Whiskey, anymore. I'm bummed because if you know me, you know I consider him my son, my therapy, and my best friend.

Don't worry, he's in a great home, and he's going to be a happy puppy for the rest of his days, no doubt about it. But that doesn't make this any easier....

I'm coping with -essentially- the loss of my dog.

Recently I decided I want to adopt a new dog...and I feel GUILTY.

How can I love another dog as much as Whiskey? I feel like I'm betraying him by bringing another pup into my life. Whiskey was my first dog EVER, so this is something i've never experienced.

Have you dealt with this type of guilt before? How do you deal? I need some advice.

I saw this post this morning, and it's helped me deal with a lot of the emotions that have been surfacing about my experience....hopefully it can help you too.
