
Idaho Man Dies In Icy River Crash Near Salmon
Idaho State Police is investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that happened Monday, January 5, 2026, around 9:45 a.m., on US 93 in Lemhi County.
ISP Reports The Crash Occurred on Icy US 93 Near Salmon
A pickup lost control on icy roads and overturned into the Salmon River.
According to ISP, an 82-year-old man from Salmon was driving northbound in a 1999 GMC Sierra when he lost control on icy roads. The pickup went off the north side of the roadway, overturned, and ended up in the Salmon River.
Fatal Injuries Reported at the Scene
ISP says the driver died due to his injuries at the scene. There were no other occupants in the vehicle, and no other vehicles were involved in the accident. ISP reports the driver was wearing his seatbelt.

In a separate incident also reported by ISP on January 5, a juvenile riding a Honda ATV crashed into a 2026 Ford Explorer near milepost 64 on SH-51 in Owyhee County. ISP says the juvenile was not wearing a helmet and was airlifted to an area hospital, while all lanes were blocked for about two hours. The incident remains under investigation.
