FREE Admission to Western Idaho Fair
Today is the day! One of the biggest events in the whole state: The Western Idaho Fair!! According to the Idaho Statesman, more than 275,000 people went to the fair last year...WHOA! This year, the amazing fun continues with amazing entertainers from magicians, hypnotists, even a diver taking a plunge from 25 meters! Not to mention all of the amazing food, carnival rides, vendors, and OF COURSE the great performances on the DISH Grandstand Stage. This year, enjoy shows from Bret Michaels, Styx, Comedian Gabrial "Fluffy" Iglesias", and country star Randy Houser!
The 10-day fun kicks off TODAY (8/17) and if you're ready to check out all the Western Idaho Fair has to offer, you might want to show up when the gates open at noon. Why? Because according to the Idaho Statesman, for the first two hours...ADMISSION IS FREE!!!! That's right, bring the whole family and save big with no fair admission until 2 p.m.
Here are the regular prices for admission (via the Statesman): $9 for adults, $7 for seniors, $6 for youth; carnival wristbands are $30. That means you can save some big bucks if you head there today.
You'll see some changes to the fairgrounds this year. Most noticeably, The Sky Ride (you may have noticed its construction during the Boise Music Festival). According to the Idaho Statesman, the "74-chairlift offers an eight- to 10-minute ride, with a view of the festivities from four stories off the ground." It'll cost you $6 to get unlimited rides AND you can bring up your turkey leg and a cold one to enjoy. But, if you drop something, you'll be held accountable so be careful!!
