My hands-down favorite feature at Zoo Boise is the Butterflies in Bloom exhibit. This year, hundreds of butterflies from Costa Rica have been flown in for the occasion.

From now until Labor Day you can get up close to all sorts of magnificent butterflies in an experience that you can't get anywhere else in the area.

According to an article on KTVB, the rare butterflies were flown in as pupa or the state between caterpillar and butterfly when they are transforming in their cocoons.

The exhibit does not come at an extra cost, but part of your zoo admission will go towards butterfly conservation.

Other must-sees at the zoo this season are an endangered Siberian Tiger, a baby anteater that arrived back in March, and an African Lion that has been at Zoo Boise for less than a year.

I love our zoo so much because it's small enough to tackle with young children but still full of all the classic animals and exotics that you want to see.
