Idaho Woman Wants Parents Prosecuted for Denying Medical Treatment

Mariah Walton says her parents denied her treatment, instead attempted to heal her through prayer. Now she wants them held responsible.

Mariah Walton is 20-years-old and awaiting a heart and lung transplant, something she says could have been prevented if her parents had just taken her to a doctor. Now, she wants them-and others like them-to be held responsible.

Proposed legislation would require Idaho families to provide medical treatment for children in "imminent danger of dying."

Some people oppose the idea, saying it would violate parental rights, as well as a family's freedom of religion.
