Idaho is one of the least equitable school districts in the U.S., right next to California, but some school districts within the state are fairer than others. The U.S. is one of the most educated countries in the world, but that doesn't mean that the same quality is provided at each elementary or secondary school education to all students.

With low-income school districts underfunded by around $6,700 per student, WalletHub released its report on the "Most and Least Equitable School Districts in Idaho." Below, you'll see a list of the most equitable school districts and the least equitable school districts. 

Is there a crisis in Idaho & California school districts?

Methodology: "To find out where school funding is distributed most equitably, WalletHub scored 113 districts in Idaho based on two metrics: average household income and expenditures for public elementary and secondary schools per pupil."

When the state provides equitable funding to all school districts, it can help prevent poor students from having lower graduation rates, lower rates of pursuing higher education, and smaller future incomes than their wealthy peers. 

WalletHub also released its list of the "States with the Most and Least Equitable School Districts." Below, you'll see that Idaho could be doing a better job as a state. It's a challenge that requires concerted efforts from educators, policymakers, parents, and communities. 

Promoting equitable schools in Idaho will require a long-term commitment and collaboration. It's important to continuously assess progress, adjust strategies as needed, and prioritize the needs of the most vulnerable students to ensure that all children have access to high-quality education.
