The Warmest Christmas in Boise

If you're dreaming of a warm, sunny Christmas, you would have loved the Christmas of 1980. Boise recorded its warmest Christmas that with a high of 60°F! Talk about the perfect day for kiddos to get out and enjoy those Christmas gifts they got that morning. Other warm contenders include 1955 and 1906, with highs of 52°F and 55°F. Will we get to a record high this year?

 

The Coldest Christmas on Record

On the flip side, the Boise felt winter's fury in 1990. That year, the temperature plummeted to a bone-rattling  -20°F, making it the coldest Christmas on record. Wow! The kids were not going outside to play with any new Christmas gifts that day. In 1924, Christmas Day wasn't that far behind, with a low of -18°F. You don't have to worry about it getting that cold this year.

The Most Snowy Christmas

When it comes to the snowiest Christmas, 1998 takes the cake! On Christmas day, it snowed 6.1 inches with a snow depth of 3 inches to match. In 1983, Christmas had a snowfall of 3 inches, making it perfect for some post-gift opening snowball fights.

2024 Christmas Forecast

As we look ahead to next week and the forecast for Christmas day, we may not beat the record high, but we will have a high of 46°F with variable cloudiness and a low of 34°F with clouds and a little rain late. Don't forget that the first day of winter is December 21.
