I am totally hooked on the new Netflix series that everyone is talking about, "Making a Murderer," but I can't believe what I dug up here in Idaho!

"Making a Murderer" tells the story of Steven Avery, who spent 18 years in jail for a crime in a small town he didn't commit, and then 2 years after he's exonerated he finds himself on trial for murder.

My hands down worst fear is landing in jail for a crime I didn't commit. Nothing could be more frustrating and depressing. After watching this new Netflix series, I started to dig into Idaho's past and I found some pretty interesting stories.

First we have Charles Fain who spent 18 years on death row for the rape and murder of a 9 year old girl from Nampa. In 2001 DNA evidence discovered that hairs found on the girl's body were not his. Fain says he is 100% innocent and was asleep at his Dad's house in Redmond, Oregon when the crime occurred. To read more information on this story click HERE.

In March of 2014, Sarah Pearce of Caldwell walked away free after 11 years behind bars. Pearce was charged in 2000 for allegedly stabbing a woman and leaving her for dead. You can read more of her story HERE.

I also discovered that Boise State University runs the Idaho Innocence Project which tries to correct and prevent wrongful convictions. Even Amanda Knox, who spent 4 years in an Italian prison before being exonerated on a murder charge, has thanked the Idaho Innocence Project for helping set her free.

Interesting stuff Idaho!
