Boise Area Is Getting Its First Indoor Beach Volleyball Facility

Boise area volleyball players are about to get an indoor, climate-controlled beach volleyball facility with sand courts, food, drinks, and space to watch games. The new spot is called Treasure Valley Beach. It’s being built next to the Treasure Valley Athletic Center near Locust Grove and Franklin in Meridian.

Treasure Valley Beach Is Building Boise’s First Indoor Sand Volleyball Courts

I spoke with Collin Hartman, who owns Treasure Valley Athletic Center with his wife. The Hartmans bought TVAC in 2021 and turned what was originally a soccer facility into a multi-sport complex that’s now heavily volleyball-focused, along with tournaments, rentals, and events.

Now, they’re expanding and opening an indoor sand facility specifically for beach volleyball.

A 14,000-Square-Foot Building With Three Full Courts And A Viewing Area

Hartman says the facility will be around 14,000 square feet, and the main part of the building will feature three full indoor beach volleyball courts. There will also be a walkway-style hangout and viewing area, separated from the courts by a bar-height partition along the wall. In other words, you can come watch and socialize without getting your feet dirty.

They've installed a large garage door that will open up during warmer months.
In the summer, it can feel more like an indoor/outdoor space. In the winter, it’ll stay enclosed and climate-controlled.

A Second-Story Weight Room Will Be Part Of The Facility Too

Treasure Valley Beach will have a sports performance weight room, roughly 1,700 square feet. Athletes will be able to work on strength, explosiveness, speed, and agility.

Adult “Bar League” Volleyball Is A Big Part Of The Plan

Hartman says a big focus is adult recreation for people who already play city league volleyball in the Boise area but want a more relaxed environment. He described it as a sports bar vibe mixed with recreational beach volleyball.

Food, Beer On Tap, And Drinks Available

Collin confirmed they’re planning a real concessions setup with legit restaurant equipment.
The menu hasn’t been entirely decided on, but plans so far include flatbread pizzas, snack-style food, and grab-and-go items for people showing up hungry right before a match. And on the beverage side, he said they’re planning to have beer, wine, and canned cocktails.

No Full Locker Rooms, But There Will Be Rinse Stations

Don't expect full gym-style locker rooms with showers. But you’ll have everything you need to enjoy and play in the space. They will have bathrooms and private stall-style changing areas. And when your feet get sandy, there's a rinse station where you can hose the sand off your feet.

Boise State And College Of Idaho Beach Volleyball Could Practice Here

Beach volleyball has grown into a legitimate college sport, even in places that aren’t near an actual beach. Boise State and College of Idaho both have beach volleyball teams. Hartman expects teams to use the facility for practices when outdoor training isn’t realistic in Idaho's winter weather.

Youth Beach Volleyball Programs Are Also In The Works

Youth programs are part of the plan, too. They’ll be expanding youth training opportunities as the facility gets rolling.

Court Rentals And Drop-In Play Could Happen Later

The priority right now is league play, and he mentioned that nights during the week are filling quickly. That said, Hartman said he’s open to exploring things like court rentals and drop-in play, but that’s more likely down the line. Those details may evolve, so don’t hold him to it.

Where To Find League Info And Updates

Treasure Valley Beach's first league season is set to begin on February 23. You can hit up the TVAC website for league details and registration details.
