CTI Foods, the parent company of Jimmy Dean Sausage, has announced a recall of over 29,000 pounds of their frozen ready to eat pork and poultry sausage link products.  The reason for the recall is that the products may contain pieces of metal.  The announcement was made Monday by the United States Department of Agriculture.

Here's what to look for in the recalled product:

  • 23.4-oz. pouches of “Jimmy Dean HEAT ’n SERVE Original SAUSAGE LINKS Made with Pork & Turkey” with a Use By date of Jan. 31, 19. The product bears case code A6382168, with a time stamp range of 11:58 through 01:49.

The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 19085” on the back of the product packaging.  The Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS) received five complaints about metal in the products on Monday.

So far, there have been no reports on sickness or injury.  FSIS advises that if you have any questions or concerns, to contact your health care provider.
