People Have Had Enough With Idahoans Telling Idahoans To Leave
In the last couple of decades, Idaho has become a place for so many people to change their lifestyles. To find somewhere that aligns with their beliefs. For most of that time, the "go back home" mentality has plagued the state for not being so welcoming, but is that changing? A discussion I stumbled upon taking place online has me thinking even those who grew up here believe it's time to move on, "had it with Idahoans telling other Idahoans to leave."
As one person put it in the thread, "It's dumb. I've lived here my entire life, minus a 5-year stretch in Seattle after I graduated from U of I, and I'm way more liberal than most Idahoans. Half of these clowns who say 'go home' aren't from Idaho anyway. Real Idahoans know that this used to be a moderate Republican state that was far more 'your business is your business' in mindset." Why should anyone feel like they don't fit in just because their opinions are different? And usually, for the most part, the people moving here have the same views. Idaho is a place where everyone has the right to share their thoughts, whether they've lived there forever or just moved in.
Telling someone to leave because they see things differently is not a good idea. It stops important conversations that can lead to understanding and growth. The thread I was reading also said, "It's the most immature and unintelligent response one could come up with, and yet there it is, over and over every day. People are going to continue to move from state to state, and people are going to continue to disagree on issues regardless of how long they have been here or where they are from. Do better."
