Do you find yourself frustrated when Halloween lands during the week and you have to get tired, sugar-fueled kids up for school the next morning? A new petition aims to change the date of Halloween.

The Halloween and Costume Association has started the petition at change.org to move Halloween from October 31st to the last Saturday in October.

They tried to do this last year and were unsuccessful, so now they are essentially deeming this a new holiday called "National Trick or Treat Day."

I'm usually one for tradition, but I would be all for this change. I hate the doorbell ringing at 10 p.m. when I want to go to bed and trying to get kids to go to sleep when they want to relish in all of their candy finds.

The only time I've seen Halloween celebrated on a day other than October 31st is when I lived in Utah, which is predominately made up of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. If Halloween ever fell on a Sunday, the entire state celebrated the Saturday before on the 30th. It was very interesting and I've never seen that happen anywhere else.

So far the petition to change the date of Halloween has over 153,000 signatures. Their goal is 200,000 and even then, they will probably have to jump through several hoops to make it happen.

Do you think this is a good idea? I'd love to hear your thoughts! If you want to sign the petition, click the link below.
