Samsung Pays Apple $1 Billion in Nickels…Or Do They?

When Samsung was ordered to pay Apple $1 billion in a patent infringement case, Samsung decided to get really clever about they're payback...The filled up 30 armored trucks with nickels to pay off what they owe.

Well it turns out it's all a hoax! Samsung never sent nickels to Apple. in fact, if they were to have done it, it would've taken waaay more than 30 trucks. According to examiner.com it would've taken 2,755 18-wheeler trucks (max legal tare 80,000 lbs) to carry the money.

The first originated on a Mexican website called, "El Deforma" - they even had a "tip of the day" on Wednesday after the "news" went viral: "Si vas a plagiar noticias, no uses un sitio de noticias falsas como fuente." Or In English: "If you're going to steal news, make sure not to use a fake news site as a source."

Well, I gotta admit, I fell for it! But as a former journalism major I've learned to do a little more digging before I post something...advice other sites should've taken. Whoops!
