Spirit of Boise Balloon Classic Soars Over The Boise River

The Spirit of Boise Balloon Classic is underway at Ann Morrison Park, and the weather has been excellent this year. Wednesday was Cap Ed Credit Union Kid's Day. Today (08/31) was media day. Today, I had the chance to go up in a hot air balloon as part of the media, which was not what I expected. I wasn't even sure what to expect. 

I had the pleasure of flying with David Robinson, who has been into hot air balloons since high school. David is now in his 70s and truly loves hot-air ballooning. The first thing he mentioned before we went up was that he made his balloon, which was fascinating and concerning at the same time. The second thing David went through was what to do when landing, and the third was to get out of the basket when it had stopped moving and was on the ground. He had some fun with that third one. 

The views of Boise and the Boise River in a hot air balloon were stunning. The sun was coming over the mountains, and you could feel it on your face, but it still had the morning crisp. Not being a massive fan of heights, I was concerned about going up in the first place. But it's such a smooth and gradual incline into the sky that you almost don't realize how high you are. The flight was smooth, and David did a great job of landing us safely. 

You should go up in a hot air balloon. There's something so peaceful about it. You still have time to make it to the Spirit of Boise Balloon Classic. Check out their schedule of events.
