If you've seen some of the disasters that have come out of my kitchen, you know I have no business being on a show like this. You, however, may know your way around fondant better than I do.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not a bad baker. In fact, I truly believe that the fact that I continuously fed my homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies to the DJs that worked at the very first radio cluster that I interned at is why the eventually gave me the job that helped launch my career. But, there was nothing special looking about them. They just tasted good.

If were to try and actually make something that looked like it belonged in the bakery case at one of the really fancy Albertsons stores here I know it would look like some of the hot messes you've seen come out of the Netflix series Nailed It.

Maybe you've been blessed with culinary skills that I'll never master and can create some really impressive cakes, pastries, cookies, breads and tarts. That means you have a shot at earning a spot to compete on ABC's The Great American Baking Show! They're looking for amateur bakers from all over the country, including here in Boise, to be future contestants on the show.

To apply, click HERE and fill out their questionnaire. It includes some questions about how long you've been baking, the most difficult things you've baked, if there are any family stories that come back to baking and what your friends/family members would say about your baking skills. They would also like you to include a short 1-2 minute video describing you and your passion for baking and why you belong on the show and some photos of your bakes!

The Great American Baking Show is a spinoff of The Great British Bake Off that's extremely popular on Netflix. The American version traditionally airs during the holiday season.
