Caldwell, Idaho - Big day for the Caldwell Police Department on January 12 with the arrest of a very dangerous fugitive, 22 year-old Adam Ramirez.

Yesterday, the Caldwell Police Department with a joint effort with Ada County Sheriff's Office - ACTION Team, Meridian Police Department IMPACT Team, and the Idaho Department of Corrections - Probation and Parole.

Ramirez, who has a long criminal history of violence and eluding police was apprehended but not after trying to evade police again with a getaway driver. The driver 20 year-old Ricardo Palominos assisted Ramirez by trying to flee from the police after a CPD officer tried to block the two suspects from escaping, Palominos intentionally rammed the front of the police cruiser. Thankfully the police officers were able to exit the vehicle and find cover without being injured and using force.

In an attempt to apprehend the two suspects, the driver continued to use the vehicle as a weapon to flee and rammed into a second police vehicle after the second officer tried blocking them in. Palominos drove into the officers in a "t-bone" manner along the driver's side.

At that point, both suspects exited their vehicle to attempt to run on foot, but with the presence of the Ada County Sheriff's Office K-9 on the scene they quickly surrendered without force or injury.

Ramirez was arrested for his warrant and charged with no contact order violation, possession of a controlled substance, and paraphernalia with intent to use. Palominos was charged with aggravated assault on a peace officer.

Caldwell Chief of Police Rex Ingram had this to say "“I am so proud of the teamwork, collaboration, and seamless execution of this dangerous police operation today. Ramirez has been on the run for a long time and today, he has been brought to justice. These two predators tried to use their vehicle as a weapon and injure our police officers. Our officers are commended for their restraint and reverence for human life. Although they could have used deadly force in this incident, they worked together as a unified team to safely de-escalate and take the suspects into custody. This is yet another reminder that if you want to run, we will find you, catch you, and introduce you to your jail cell,”
