One of the best parts about living in Idaho is being so close to the natural world.  A down side to that is when nature gets too close and it jeopardizes the safety of our community.  Boise is no stranger to close encounters with dangerous predators like the Mountain Lion, but that doesn't mean the warnings should be taken lightly.  Especially during this time of year when food is scarce and wild animals will do anything, and go anywhere to get it, including your own back yard.  Earlier today a Boise man and his two dogs encountered a wandering and hungry Mountain Lion while on a leisurely walk through the Boise foothills.  Instead of running scared, the man used his human survival skills and fought off the beast by throwing rocks.  He was able to carry one of his injured dogs to the safety of his vehicle where the other dog was standing by, but the cougar got away.  When it is spotted again, Idaho Fish and Game will be able to continue the search and send it back to a more appropriate environment.  Find out more about the story and what to do if you see a Mountain Lion in your area in the video below, courtesy of KTVB.
