1 in 4 Idaho High Schoolers Have Considered Suicide

What makes the number even more staggering is it's the highest rate in a decade.

According to 2017's Youth Risk Behavior Study, 22% of Idaho high schoolers surveyed said they have "seriously considered" taking their own life. Those results come from almost 2,000 students from 53 different high schools across the Gem State.

In a related number, 25% of those same students say they've been bullied in school, mostly via social media or texting. While there's no concrete proof in this study that those two statistics are related, it's hard to believe otherwise.

Some schools aren't too worried. A spokesperson for Twin Falls School District said they're taking the survey with "a grain of salt" in that some students didn't take the survey seriously or are over exaggerating.
