The World Atlas calls it "the most diverse region in the United States."

The Pacific Northwest, or PNW for the locals, is an epic slice of America's West Coast. It's a place where the rain never dampens spirits but rather feeds the lush forests, creating a mesmerizing green retreat.

Small towns, with their unhurried pace and friendly faces, offer a unique charm that often outshines the bustling cities. Life in these picturesque towns provides a refreshing departure from the urban hustle and bustle. Small towns boast a strong sense of community. Your neighbor is a friend, and shopkeepers greet you by name.

Why are we talking about small towns?

Visiting small towns can be a refreshing escape from the urban chaos. These charming towns offer a sense of tranquility that cities often lack. You can meander down quiet streets, breathe in clean air, and savor a slower pace of life. Small-town folks are famously friendly, and you'll find unique local businesses and hidden gems. Plus, being surrounded by nature is a given, with parks and picturesque landscapes just a short drive away. Sometimes, the relaxed charm of a small town trumps the hustle and bustle of the big city.

The Pacific Northwest has some fantastic small towns that are worth the visit. World Atlas shared a list of the "11 Quaintest Small Towns in the Pacific Northwest," and one of those towns is right here in Idaho. We narrowed it down to 10 because we know Idahoans don't really want to visit the one place listed in California.

For the 4th of July, my wife and I visited one of these towns, and it sure lives up to the hype. Driving and enjoying the scenery through Idaho, Oregon, and Washington is much better than flying. Yes, it's more convenient to fly, but take a long weekend and unwind from the chaos of airports and big cities.

World Atlas named these these the "11 Quaintest Small Towns in the Pacific Northwest." We dropped one well because it's in California, and we didn't want to make Idahoans mad.
