"It" uses red balloons to lure kids. "Krinkles" used cereal and TV commercials! Yikes!

Long before Stephen King wrote about a creepy clown named Pennywise, the Post cereal company had "Krinkles" selling cereal to TV audiences in the 1960's. Back then there didn't seem to be the same stigma attached to clowns...(or was there?).

Look at those eyes. I think the vintage black and white makes this just as creepy, maybe even more creepy, than the full color version of the creepy clowns today. That's a lot of creepy.

Imagine being a kid in the 1960's and waking up Saturday morning to watch cartoons and Krinkles comes on your TV.

No wonder the 60's are so hard to remember, even for those of us that grew up in them!
