To determine the best and worst states to live in, WalletHub compared the 50 states across five key dimensions: 1) Affordability, 2) Economy, 3) Education & Health, 4) Quality of Life, and 5) Safety. Each metric was graded on a 100-point scale, with a score of 100 representing the most favorable living conditions.

COVID-19 highlighted the feasibility of remote work for many different industries. New Mexico finds itself at the bottom of the list at #50, with one of the highest crime rates and one of the highest percentages of the population living in poverty.
Utah is ranked the 15th best place to live, with one of the lowest percentages of the population living in poverty, just after New Hampshire. Utah also has the lowest average of weekly hours worked. Utah was in the top 10 for affordability and education & health.
