As an alumni of both the school and their athletic department--this comes as no surprise. However, Bishop Kelly High School is gaining national attention for their athletic department, as they've come in among the top 30 programs in the entire country.

MaxPreps, an online high school sports news source, annually ranks high schools across the nation by their success. This is measured by whether or not teams (of all sports, during all seasons) finish as State Champion or runner up and also takes into account any national recognition or rankings, as well.

Coming in first place as the top ranked athletic program in the entire country? That's Jesuit High School in Portland, Oregon. I love seeing not only a Jesuit institution doing so well (I'm a graduate of a Jesuit university), but also that the champion is from the Pacific Northwest! This is the second time in four years that Jesuit has been #1 in the nation.

As for local school, Bishop Kelly, the Knights top any other Idaho school's rank, at #29 in the entire country. BK saw 5 state championships and 6 state runner-up trophies.

I know from experience that Bishop Kelly sets the bar high for its student athletes, demanding nothing shy of complete dedication to work, academics, and to your teammates. It's obvious they're reaping rewards from the programs structure.

Other Idaho schools ranked are: Sugar-Salem (#31), Rocky (#38), Eagle (#52), and Boise (#96)
