Black Widows Are Invading Idaho Homes And You Need To Be Prepared

It's been a hot summer. Like humans, many insects need that temperature regulation. Insects have a narrow range of temperatures at which they can function optimally. Extremely high temperatures can cause their bodies to overheat, leading to physiological stress and potential death. 

Insects looking for cooler temperatures became a concern for me when my wife and I spotted a black widow near our bedroom door with access to the backyard. Black widows prefer warm climates and can be found in various habitats, including woodpiles, rock crevices, shrubs, tall grasses, and other sheltered areas. Knowing that now, there was a good chance that the black widow probably wouldn't have liked the climate in our home because we like to keep our house pretty cold.

Did we kill the black widow? 

Yes, there was no chance my wife would let that spider live, knowing that it was that close to our bedroom and that we have two dogs who enjoy playing in the backyard. We will also find a pest control company to spray around our home, which has excellent benefits.
