Boise Police Officer Receives ‘Top Cop’ Award

Boise Police Lt. Alan Cavener (retired) was in Washington, D.C. earlier this month where he received a Top Cop Honorable Mention Award from the National Association of Police Organizations. He was the only officer from Idaho to receive an award.

Cavaner was off duty in his police car when he noticed a car driving in the wrong direction on the freeway. He parked his car on the shoulder and turned on his lights and siren. He then guided the elderly man's car to the shoulder. He also received a Police Silver Star from the Boise P.D.
